Partying like it's 2002
Our son Danny and his fiancee Louise, were married twenty-two years ago, in a lovely small ceremony in their home in Canberra. They had a total of 17 folk there, not counting the celebrant. We had a pleasant barbecue lunch together, with Uncle Richard handling the tongs.
One thing that stood out for me is that Louise’s mother, Maureen had a fancy new digital camera. After taking some photos, she plugged it into the TV, and showed us the photos! I was gobsmacked. No taking the film to the chemist to send to the photo lab and waiting a week to pick up your snaps. We could see them, seconds after they were taken. Wow!
Fast forward to Christmas 2024, and here we are with digital photo frames. I bought one for my wife, Joan and pre-loaded it, so that on Christmas morning, I could plug it in for her, and she had a photo gallery of over 200 photos ready to view.
The photo here is of Joan’s frameo displaying a photo of our grandchildren Reggie and Hilary in our apartment in Melbourne, a few years back.
My son David loved the idea, so we have them one also, for Christmas. Within a few seconds, David had their frameo set up and ready to receive. I was having fun taking a photo and instantly sending it to be displayed a few seconds after I’d clicked the button on my iPhone.
Joan’s device now has 340 photos (with room for another 600 or so that can be sent via the app, and with a 32 gig smart disk, another 8,000 or more). It feels like a new version of 2002!
So far, we have three people with a frameo code who can send to Joan’s digital frame. Our daughter and her family are away on holidays, and sent us some snaps directly to Joan’s frameo. Is this the you’ve got mail of our current time?
